Abstract: This paper reviews the era of information technology and the advances of health informatics. Patients are no longer willing to stand in the background as physicians decide their treatment and outcome. Patients have been vocal about their need to become involved in these decisions. The Electronic Health Record (EHR) has become an invaluable tool for many health care professionals around the world. The impetus is now on the Canadian health care system to become inclusive. This is not without risk on both parts. In the paper ahead, I will try to give a balanced, evidence-based review on why Canadians should have an accessible, mobile EHR
